Join the Leadership Team at Blackstone Valley NEMBA
Mountain biking thrives on momentum — and so does our chapter. As we look toward 2025, we’re seeking passionate, community-minded riders to help shape the future of trails, rides, and events across the Blackstone Valley. Whether you’re a trail steward, event planner, or social connector, there’s a place for you on the team.
Why Serve?
Our chapter is built by riders, for riders. By stepping into a leadership role, you’ll:
- Ensure that our group rides, socials, and events continue to thrive.
- Have a direct impact on trail development and stewardship.
- Help grow an inclusive and active riding community.
- Bring new ideas to the table — and see them through.
- Strengthen partnerships with land managers, local towns, and regional allies.
2026 Leadership Roles
Core Leadership (Elected)
These roles form the chapter’s voting board and are decided during the Fall Chapter Meeting:
- President
- Vice President
- Secretary
- Treasurer
- At-Large (2 seats)
- Vietnam Land Manager
Appointed Roles (Selected Post-Election)
These positions support critical chapter functions and ride area operations. Each is a one-year commitment:
- Ride Area Representative – Liaison for trail conditions, workdays, and rides in a designated zone
- Social Media Coordinator – Build awareness through platforms like Instagram & Facebook
- Member Engagement Lead – Welcome new members and support retention drives
- Event Planners – Organize key events like the Spring Social or MBAS
- Tool Trailer or Groomer Manager – Maintain key equipment used in trail maintenance
New roles may be introduced as needs arise.
What’s the Time Commitment?
- Elected roles: Attend monthly planning sessions and quarterly NEMBA Board calls (for President/Vice President).
- Appointed roles: Focused on seasonal needs and flexible based on your bandwidth.
- All roles: Collaborative, meaningful, and designed to match your skills with what the chapter needs most.
Who Should Apply?
You don’t need decades of trail experience to contribute — just a passion for riding and a willingness to make things happen. Past leaders have been:
- First-timers leading beginner rides
- Parents who rallied for a local skills park
- Riders who turned group chat stoke into real trail work
- Artists, photographers, mechanics, and map nerds
If you’ve got energy, perspective, or just a good idea — we want to hear from you.

2025 Best Dam Ride Recap
The Best Dam Ride returned to West Hill Dam in Uxbridge on Sunday, October 19, and once again lived up to its name. What started as a crisp, fall morning quickly turned into one of those perfect New England riding days — cool air, clear skies, and trails that rolled fast after a week of sunshine.
By 9:00 AM, the parking area was buzzing. Riders unloaded bikes, checked gear, and gathered under the pines as volunteers guided traffic and registration kicked into gear. By ten, the first groups were off — winding their way through the same network BVNEMBA members have poured countless hours into maintaining.
The day featured something for everyone: guided loops ranging from beginner-friendly spins to the full 14-mile advanced ride, a kids’ ride that drew a cheerful crowd at 10:30, and adaptive options to make sure every rider could join in. Bike demos from Conte’s Bike Shop, food trucks, live music, and the pump track and jump line added to the festival feel — all framed by West Hill’s fall colors and open sky.
As the afternoon wound down, riders traded trail stories, swapped raffle tickets, and stuck around to cheer the winners. More than a few muddy smiles told the story of another successful chapter event — one that perfectly blended trail stewardship, community connection, and the spirit of mountain biking.
And, of course, no Best Dam Ride would be complete without the raffle. With over $7,000 in prizes on the table — from a Race Face cockpit package and Kuat NV 2.0 rack to Pedro’s tool kits, a Woom kids’ MTB, and tune-ups from JRA Cycles — it was as exciting for the crowd as the riding itself.
Thanks to every rider, volunteer, and sponsor who made the day possible — and to our partners at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for helping us keep West Hill Dam a model for sustainable, shared-use recreation.
