On Monday, February 10, 2025, Blackstone Valley NEMBA held its Winter Chapter Meeting at CraftRoots Brewing in Milford, MA. Thank you to everyone who joined us for an evening of updates, discussions, and planning for the year ahead.

Introduction & Leadership Updates
The meeting opened with introductions from the chapter’s leadership team:
- Vice President: Mike Carvalho
- Treasurer: Josh Handverger
- Secretary: Dan Brown
- At-Large Members: Kyle Grendell and Kim Powell
The meeting began with the approval of the fall meeting minutes, followed by a dive into the chapter’s donation strategy, budget, and trail updates.
Chapter Donation Strategy
Vice President Mike Carvalho introduced the chapter’s new donation strategy, which aims to allocate up to 10% of the chapter’s annual income to local land managers, trail associations, and community initiatives.
Donation Breakdown:
- 70–80%: Local land managers and trail associations that maintain and improve our trails.
- 20–30%: Community organizations such as Worcester Earn-A-Bike and New England Youth Cycling.
The annual donation process will include member input and voting to ensure transparency and broad support.
Treasurer’s Report & 2025 Budget Approval
Treasurer Josh Handverger provided an overview of the chapter’s financials and membership trends.
Key Financial Highlights:
- 2024 Revenue: $29,000 in total income, primarily from membership rebates, donations, and the Best Dam Ride, which raised over $11,000.
- Budget Priorities for 2025: Investments in long-term trail projects, professional-grade tools, and safety education.
The chapter’s financial strategy emphasizes sustainable investments that reduce recurring expenses while improving our trail networks and member experience.
